BRIEF

Circle K announced intentions to build its fourth location in Maricopa at the northwest corner of Smith-Enke and Porter Roads. Developers submitted preliminary plans to the city, detailing a 5,200-square-foot store with 20 fueling stations. Details on a timeline or when city officials may review and approve the request were not provided.

Carl’s Jr. started its Maricopa comeback in August 2022. Finally, crews are setting up framework and walls, with construction expected to continue through the spring. The restaurant is expected to open by June, according to a spokesperson for the SimonCRE developer.

Eager customers finally had a chance to poke their heads inside the new Tractor Supply Co. on Maricopa-Casa-Grande Highway. The farm and ranch store hosted a nearly month-long soft opening starting Dec. 11, followed by a grand opening the first weekend of January. “I could not be happier with the city of Maricopa,” Store Manager Haley Wood told InMaricopa. “I’m not from Maricopa, so it’s really nice to see how friendly and how everybody’s so welcoming to us here.”

S3 BioTech

With very few emergency medicine options in Maricopa, the city’s second attempt at a contract with Phoenix-based S3 BioTech medical campus made for an exciting move. Construction is expected to begin next month. “By their agreement, they have to be under construction before the end of March, but I suspect they’ll be under construction much sooner,” said City Manager Rick Horst.
