INITIAL INTERVIEW WITH RODNEY: I asked Rodney if he heard a gunshot to which he advised "yes" as he advised it sounded like a cap-gun. Rodney advised him and his wife were sitting in their living room at W DIRK ST with their rear sliding glass door open. Rodney stated he heard what he assumed to be juveniles on N Dancer Ln talking. Rodney stated he then heard the loud pop and a vehicle speed off from the area going south on N Dancer Ln and take a right on W Guilder Ave. Rodney advised he did not see the vehicle but the vehicle sounded like a 4-cylinder vehicle that he recognized to possibly have an altered muffler as it "rattled" going down the road. Rodney stated he went into his back yard and looked over his wall to see what was happening and did not see anything but heard something groaning to which he looked down and saw a dark colored "blob". At this time, Rodney asked his wife to get a flashlight to which he then saw the male subject laying on the ground next to the vehicle not moving. Rodney also advised he saw a black pistol laying next to the male subject on the ground. PHOTOGRAPHING: At this time, I was requested to photograph the scene and proceeded to use my department issued cell phone to take pictures of the scene (uploaded to Evidence. com) . OFFICAL STATEMENT FROM RODNEY: Once I finished photographing, I was instructed by Cpl Takagi to collect an official written statement from Rodney and proceeded to his residence. I stood by in his residence and witnessed him write his statement (see attached). I asked Rodney to summarize what he witnessed as well: Rodney advised that at approximately 1932 hours, he heard what he believed to be juveniles outside on N Dancer Ln. He proceeded to hear a loud pop and then something being dropped onto the ground. He stated then he heard a car driving away with a rattling exhaust. Rodney proceeded to look over his wall which faces N Dancer Ln and initially did not see anything. Rodney then heard a moan so he proceeded to get a flashlight and looked over the wall again finding the male subject laying on the ground. Rodney stated he also saw a black pistol laying on the slope of the curb next to him. Rodney then proceeded to call 9-1-1 as he began walking towards his front door. Rodney stated that as he ran out of his front door he encountered a male subject running eastbound on W Dirk St. Rodney stated the male subject running was observed to be approximately 5' 10" wearing a hoodie sweatshirt with plaid pajama pants. Rodney stated the male subject ducked in between two houses on the north side of W Dirk St. Rodney stated that shortly after, 4 to six more possible juveniles emerged from behind a vehicle and also ran eastbound on W Dirk St. Rodney advised two of the subjects were female as one was wearing a black tank top with pajama pants.
