On 12/05/2024 I conducted a follow-up with Sergio at his residence. The following will be a summary of the interview. During the interview photo line-ups were done with Sergio. These include line-ups for and Please see the Axon video for further. On December 5, 2024, at approximately 3:17 PM, I, Detective Mccullar, re-interviewed Sergio "Chronic" Munoz, who explained that he had been involved in an incident where he was struck (pistol whipped and hit with fists) on the head and subsequently sought medical attention. Sergio mentioned that he initially went to a doctor ( who did not find a concussion. Still, later, after experiencing confusion a few days later and headaches, he visited another doctor in Chandler who confirmed he had a concussion. Medical paperwork for the follow-up at is pending. Sergio detailed that on the night of the incident, he was in his car with Carlos and two other individuals, and He mentioned that he was struck on the head with a firearm. I noticed in the first interview with Sergio it appeared he had a burn mark on his ear, likely from the gases expelled when the gun was fired. The injury to his ear in this interview showed a lot more healing. Photographs were taken of his ear. Sergio expressed confusion about the exact sequence of events but recalled seeing three individuals with firearms. Those individuals were (decedent), and another unconfirmed male outside the driver's side window.
During the conversation, Sergio identified one of the assailants,
from a photo
lineup. He confirmed that
was seated behind him in the car during the incident
(Driver's side back passenger seat). Sergio also mentioned that he had seen multiple times before the night of the incident because he had sold to him several times prior. Sergio was not able to pick any other individuals in the other photo line-ups. (Photo line-ups were added to evidence.) Sergio and his mother expressed concerns about his safety and the potential repercussions of the incident. They discussed the possibility of Sergio returning to work and the measures they might need to take to ensure his safety. I reassured them that based on the information gathered, there was no immediate threat to Sergio or his family. I explained the process of obtaining fingerprints from Sergio, Carlos, Chris, and Dominique (Chris and Dominique saw Sergio and Carlos immediately after the event). to eliminate their prints from the crime scene investigation.
