ABOUT THE ARTIST Daniel Sturgeon has worked within the Maricopa Unified School District since 2005 in various roles and holds a Baccalaureate of Arts Education with the highest honors from Arizona State University. Additionally, Mr. Sturgeon has held many Art Instruction positions within the community as a middle school Painting, Drawing, and Cartooning Instructor at Copper Sky Multigenerational Center, a Camp Sol ESS Art Instructor, a City of Maricopa Summer School Art Instructor, and an Odysseyware Digital Art Teacher.

Mr. Sturgeon loves the City of Maricopa and continues to stay engaged in the community in artistic endeavors and opportunities that arise. Currently, Mr. Sturgeon proudly serves as the Visual-Art Department Chair and is the MHS Art Club Sponsor at Maricopa High School, teaching a full range of visual art courses — Drawing, Painting, Art 1, Art Appreciation, and AP Studio Art. In Mr. Sturgeon’s pastime, he enjoys drawing, painting, and sculpting and has a vast comic book and movie collection.

Why You Should Join Maricopa’s Historical Society

MISSION To share Maricopa’s heritage and make Maricopa history fun for everyone. PURPOSE To collect, identify, record, preserve, and share stories and items of Maricopa’s past and present with current and future generations. GOAL Is to continue keeping Maricopa’s diverse history alive. We aim to inform and inspire others with our team of enthusiastic volunteers in our Museum and the Silver Horizon railcar.
