1 BUCKEYE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT Buckeye City Council approved a 20- year Airport Master Plan for Buckeye Municipal Airport to satisfy a Federal Aviation Administration requirement, despite Mayor Eric Orsborn expressing frustration with the plan’s limits. The plan calls for lengthening and widening the airport’s existing north-south runway, along with rerouting Yuma Road north around the proposed longer runway. Orsborn said the city remains constrained by the current runway alignment and must quickly pursue a longer-range vision, including a possible east-west crosswind runway, to better support future cargo demand tied to Buckeye’s commercial and industrial growth. 2 IN-N-OUT BURGER In-N-Out Burger has opened in Buckeye at the fast-growing retail center near North Verrado Way and Interstate 10, across from the Costco shopping center. The popular West Coast burger chain drew steady crowds in its first weeks, with seating still hard to find two weeks after opening. The restaurant adds to the chain’s growing West Valley presence and joins a commercial corridor that is also expected to include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Home Depot and a Harkins movie theater complex. 3 VWP BUCKEYE OWNER LLC An 85-acre business park west of the Westpark neighborhood near Interstate 10 and State Route 85 cleared a key zoning step with approval from the Buckeye Planning & Zoning Commission. One concept plan shows seven buildings ranging from about 66,000 to 284,000 square feet. Access is planned from 266th Avenue off West Broadway Road, with no access through Westpark.
