INVESTING IN SAFER The improvements at the intersection of Smith-Enke Road and John Wayne Parkway (State Route 347) are about halfway done. The project increases the capacity of the intersection to accommodate more cars and improve safety. The project is currently scheduled to be complete in Spring of 2025. What Improvements Are Being Made? East of John Wayne Parkway on Smith Enke Road: Dedicated Right Turn Lane: A new, free-owing right-turn lane will be added, allowing westbound trac on Smith-Enke to turn onto northbound John Wayne Parkway without stopping. Additional Left Turn Lane: A second left-turn lane will be added for trac turning south bound onto John Wayne Parkway, increasing capacity for vehicles at peak times and reducing delays. Raised Median and Access Road: A new raised median along Smith-Enke will redirect trac to a newly constructed entrance to the CVS and the Maricopa Station shopping center.
