F ast Freddy wasn’t moving very fast during Saturday’s Night Market on the 6th Street Plaza in downtown Buckeye, where temperatures were cool. Typically, the monthly markets take place on the second Friday of each month, bringing local vendors and entrepreneurs together to visit with the community and shoppers seeking locally made and locally supplied crafts and unique products, services and more. At the most recent Night Market, the Buckeye business One of a Kind Petting Zoo brought a small collection of goats, pigs, bunnies and lambs – plus one Sulcata African spurred tortoise named Fast Freddy. Friday Night Market organizer Melissa Calles said the monthly markets usually feature 40-60 different vendors and businesses, ranging from food booths to locally baked items, to ceramic artists, unique clothing suppliers, artists and more. The next market will take place on Feb. 13 at the 6th Street Plaza across from City Hall on Monroe in downtown Buckeye.
