4 Copa Farmers Market Copa Farmers Market founder Kevin Keone Okuma is seeking farmers willing to sell fruits and vegetables at the weekly Maricopa market, saying the biggest challenge has been finding enough produce vendors to help the event live up to its name. Despite the surrounding farmland, much of the area’s agriculture is devoted to alfalfa for livestock feed and sunflowers for oil rather than produce grown for local sale. Amid his efforts, Okuma was recognized as a 2026 Community Champion during Maricopa’s State of the City event, and the market also earned New Chamber Member of the Year at the Greater Maricopa Business Alliance’s annual awards banquet. 5 Einstein Bros. Bagel Plans are moving forward for an Einstein Bros. at South Bridge Marketplace near John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue. Design firm Fusion AE received approval to prepare and submit construction plans and permits for the project. The building shell is already standing, though it is not yet finished. The restaurant will share the site with a future Tropical Smoothie Café in a phase anchored by an Aldi grocery store. No construction timeline has been announced. 6 The Gathering at Castillo’s A Hidden Valley homeowner is transforming her backyard into a new event venue called The Gathering at Castillo’s. Owner Diana Castillo began developing the 5,000-square-foot space after struggling to find an affordable venue for her daughter’s quinceañera. Located near Ralston and Barnes Roads, the rural property now features a dance floor, paved walkways and bougainvillea archways, with turf, lighting and a fountain planned before its March debut. The venue is designed to host about 160 guests for weddings, quinceañeras and other celebrations. 7 Global Water Resources Global Water Resources reduced its proposed water and wastewater rate increase to about $7 per month, or roughly 7%, down from an earlier request that reached nearly 20%. The utility said the revision follows months

John Wayne Parkway, Suite 109B, sharing space with A1 Health and Wellness. Founder and CEO Brendan Franks said the city’s rapid growth, limited legal representation and collisions along State Route 347 led to the expansion. The firm focuses primarily on personal injury cases, including car crashes. Maricopa City Council members and Greater Maricopa Business Alliance representatives joined the family-run firm for a ribbon cutting celebrating its second location.
