Tractor Supply Co. didn’t have anything to say in late January about its sales performance after nearly two months doing business in Maricopa. It’s an unusual move for a new business in the city, especially because most new businesses tout jaw-dropping grand opening sales. “We unfortunately are not able to disclose sales information or comparison to other stores at this time,” said company spokesperson Annalee Rivers.

Sethi added the Maricopa location is not only one of the Valley-based chain’s top performing stores, but it also served as the restaurant’s first big step toward expanding into other markets like Tucson and Flagstaff.

City Manager Rick Horst confirmed last month Buffalo Wild Wings expressed interest in coming to Maricopa. The restaurant would be on the southwest corner of Stonegate Road and Alan Stephens Parkway, across from the Public Storage. Development Services Director Rodolfo Lopez said the project is “still in preliminary discussions with the city,” and a timeline is not yet available.

Maricopa’s long-awaited surf park may break ground this summer, according to city records. InMaricopa found a tentative project schedule through a public records request in late January. In the document, the developer estimated construction could begin in late June, with an estimated completion date of February 2026. Development Services Director Rodolfo Lopez said the city is still waiting for the developers behind the water park to submit a formal development review permit.

Indianapolis-based Thompson Thrift confirmed plans to break ground on a massive development project on the northwest corner of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue. It includes Lowe’s Home Improvement in April and a grocery store, likely Aldi. The plaza will feature several smaller retail pads for shops and restaurants, which are yet to be announced.
