A couple dozen dachshunds traded backyard zoomies for a night out at Raceway Bar & Grill, where Maricopa’s first wiener dog meetup brought together owners from neighborhoods across the city. Some came hoping to socialize their pups, while others simply wanted an excuse to spend time with fellow dachshund enthusiasts. What they found was a patio filled with wagging tails, stretched bodies and humans eager to share stories.

Meadows resident Brittany Brown said when asked what she loves about dachshunds. Many attendees said they hope the meetup becomes a regular event, giving both dogs and owners a chance to make new friends.
