HISTORY
After a long hiatus, Maricopa’s Stagecoach Days returned last year to enthusiastic crowds. The multiday celebration revived many of the traditions that made the event a community favorite, including a family fishing derby, goat-kissing, candle-making and more. Stagecoach Days began in 1959 with a barbecue dinner Tuning up tradition
and free rides aboard authentic stagecoaches, all aimed at raising $50,000 for a community swimming pool. This photo shows a country band performing on a modest stage during the 1992 event. While the band’s name — and the songs they played — may be lost to time, the memories live on.
