Maricopa’s Homeowners Associations

By Brian Petersheim

If you live in Maricopa or are moving to town, your home is likely in a homeowners association, or HOA. All of the city’s 19 residential developments — from Acacia Crossings to the Villages at Rancho El Dorado —have them. They are run with the help of eight management companies with varying monthly fees and amenities.

Before you make that big decision, here are a few things to consider: • How important is the commute time? • What do I get for my money? • How strict is the HOA with parking? • What amenities are included?

• How often does the HOA raise fees? • Is construction ongoing in the area?
