Arizona State Championship (coach)

Still, she fondly remembers her shining season of the Ram. “Obviously, winning the championship was a great memory, but more than anything it was seeing a group of young women come together and believe in each other and the team,” Mobley said. “They worked hard, fought through adversity and accomplished something that can never be taken away from them.” Asked about the formula behind the Rams team’s championship, Mobley said: “Their desire to win and they believed in each other. They didn’t care who got the credit because at the end of the day it took every single person on the roster to accomplish that state championship.” After the title season, Mobley returned to Montana to become an assistant coach at MSU. Maricopa was just a blip on Mobley’s rolling roundball radar. “The Maricopa championship was extremely special because of the kids, school and community,” she said. Asked why she left Maricopa after one season, Mobley said MSU “was an opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up. It got us back to my hometown and close to my family. I coached there for five seasons. College athletics is amazing but consists of a lot of time away from home. We had just had our daughter, and I made the decision to resign to focus on our family.” While there was friction in the locker room a decade ago, Haley and the girls have nothing but fond memories of their hard-liner hardwood coach, even though they don’t keep in touch. Haley, however, said she and Womack remain close friends and hang out together often with others from the Rams’ only championship team. “I’m really close to all of them,” Womack said of her former teammates. “I’ve known Ashliegh for so long. We’re just like family.” They didn’t care who got the credit because at the end of the day it took every single person on the roster to accomplish that state championship.” KATI MOBLEY, COACH
