BRIEF

The Baconator has two patties because, hey, two is better than one. Now, the home of the Baconator is applying the same reasoning to its presence in Maricopa. Columbus, Ohio-based Wendy’s proposed a second Maricopa restaurant, this time off the main strip at 41980 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. A conceptual site plan showed the 2,200-square-foot building will sit next to the Maricopa Kids’ Dentists and Orthodontics, along with a drive-thru lane and 22 parking spaces. Maricopa Farmers Market Sorrento resident Kevin Keone Okuma in January plans to bring it back the local farmer’s market that shuttered when its original organizer died in 2017. After announcing its return in a recent Facebook post, the response has been overwhelmingly positive from the community. Okuma said many people have asked to be vendors and called on the market to open as quickly as possible. Okuma said venues under consideration are The Gud Ark Animal Sanctuary in Hidden Valley, the Maricopa City Event Center, Copper Sky Regional Park, Pacana Park and Banner Medical Center’s parking lot.
