COMMUNITY YOU HOLIDAY All hooves on deck Gud Ark’s Jolly Roger really float’s the goats’ boat

The newest addition to Hidden Valley’s hidden gem of a nonprofit animal sanctuary known as The Gud Ark is what some call “goats on a boat.” The project built with the help of Maricopa’s Boy Scout Troop 389 is the brain- child of Kyle and Ellese Gudvangen, who own and operate the sanctuary at 50459 W. Papago Road. “We couldn’t do it without volunteers,” said Kyle Gud- vangen. The schooner-style pirate vessel landlocked on dirt is something any child would love climbing on, but here it’s dominated by kids of the baby goat variety. One in particular, Strawberry, is baroness of the boat known as the “Jolly Roger.” ARRRR! Besides goats, the Gud Ark Animal Sanctuary is home to emus, cattle, horses, dogs, pigs, cats, chickens, ducks, rabbits and friendly volunteers who help the Guvangens care for the animals.
