The 56,000-square-foot second phase includes a 20,664-square-foot Aldi grocery store, roughly 20,000 square feet of attached shop space and an additional 15,700 square feet of retail across four outparcels. Confirmed tenants include Panera Bread with a drive-thru, Tropical Smoothie Café, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Club Pilates, European Wax Center and She Nails Lounge. Aldi is scheduled to open in early 2027. 15 TownePlace Suites by Marriott Marriott International is planning a TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel along Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, marking the brand’s entry into a local market that currently comprises La Quinta Inn and Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel. Preliminary plans call for a four-story, extended-stay hotel with 111 rooms. About 60% of the rooms would be studio-style units with small kitchens, while roughly one-quarter would feature two queen beds and the remaining 15% would be connecting suites. 16 W Holdings Pinal County supervisors unanimously approved a land-use amendment clearing the way for a proposed $10 billion energy and data center campus south of Maricopa. The project by Tempe-based W Holdings would span roughly 500 acres and include a data center, battery energy storage system and a natural-gas power plant, located near the Ak-Chin Indian Community boundary. County officials have projected the development could generate 1,000 permanent jobs once operational, potentially making it one of the region’s largest employers. The proposal has drawn opposition from residents and tribal leaders raising concerns about long-term employment levels, water use, environmental impacts and the potential presence of cultural artifacts on the site.
replaces an earlier $100 million waterpark proposal that included waterslides and a lazy river. Plans include a hotel district with 100 individual bungalow-style villas, some with rooftop decks, along with restaurant and retail space and resort amenities. The villas are planned to be 3D printed by Icon. 12 Ono Hawaiian BBQ Ono Hawaiian BBQ’s signature teal signage is now up at Sonoran Creek Marketplace, with workers bolting the illuminated logo above the front door and signaling visible progress at the long-vacant corner along Maricopa’s main strip. Inside, the stainless kitchen is already installed and the wall has been cut for the drive-thru, though no opening date has been announced. The 4,300-square-foot restaurant marks Ono’s first location in Pinal County and its 16th in Arizona. The space was previously approved for a Filiberto’s Mexican Food restaurant that was never built. Ono Hawaiian BBQ operates more than 100 locations across Southern California and metro Phoenix. 13 Ponderosa Broadband Hidden Valley’s new internet provider presented Maricopa Pantry with a $10,000 check during the food bank’s monthly Neighborhood Networking meeting at Raceway Bar & Grill. The donation will help fund construction of the pantry’s new food storage facility, which is being built to meet rising demand among local families. The idea for the donation came from Ponderosa’s marketing coordinator. “My father was a volunteer with the pantry, and I live a block from where they do the distribution,” said Kimberly Dornsife. “So, it means a lot to me to be able to work for a company that is so supportive of an organization that is so deserving. The owners put their money where their mouth is.” 14 Southbridge Marketplace Construction has begun on the final phase of Southbridge Marketplace along Maricopa’s main road, adding a new round of restaurant, retail and service businesses to the center that already features Lowe’s Home Improvement and a Trulieve cannabis dispensary.
